Experience

I am beyond thankful for the opportunities I have experienced through my major specific courses as well as through my involvement during my time at Auburn so far. Both of these have provided me with wonderful spaces to gain hands on Public Relations and Marketing experiences.

Media Kit

Media Kits are collections of promotional materials and information about a brand designed to be shared with the media when creating coverage about the business. Learning to create a media kit has helped me learn valuable communication and design skills like interviewing key executives, fact-checking researched information, and meeting tight, set deadlines.

In my Multimedia Writing for Public Realtions course I was tasked with creating a media kit for a local business. I chose to create one for Waldo’s Chicken and Beer Auburn location. Through interviewing the location owner I was able to create a full media kit for his company including a corporate profile, executive bios, a fact sheet, a media pitch, reserach on relevant news outlets, and a social media strategy plan for the business.

This project allowed me to tap into skills I’ve previously developed while also exposing me to new experiences that allow for growth within the professional field of PR. The challenges I faced and overcame when designing this kit have allowed me to think quicker in the face of crisis, assess and manage large workloads, and ultimately prepared me to encounter real life scenarios.

Case Study

A Public Relations case study is an in-deapth anaylsis of a real or hypthetical situation detailing a company or individual’s actions, the prescence of public relations skills and tactics deployed or lack there of, and the measurable response from the target audiences involved in response to the situation.

In my Public Relations Case Studies & Ethics course I individually completed, researched, and studied a real world PR crisis throughout the semester. I was tasked with understanding and conveying how my chosen company or individual handled a PR crisis or campaign.

I chose to cover Tiger Woods and his public image throughout his career, specifically his infidelities and scandals.

This experience provided me with the experience of reviewing and disecting a case study on my own, and deploying my PR reserach skills to understand the tactics and skills used in my specific chosen crisis. Through this process I was able to refine my knowledge of case studies, PR crisises, and how these effect target audiences and key members of the public. My expertise in this area of PR is something I wholey attribute to this course and the rest of the public realtions courses at Auburn. This assignment will have a lasting effect on how I approach situations when I enter the professional field and encouter crisises.

CLA Graphic

As the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Auburn University College of Liberal Arts Student Executive Council, I am tasked with creating exciting and engaging graphics to promote events put on by the Student Executive Council.

Because we are an University funded and afiliated organization, all of our graphics and marketing must adhere to the Auburn University Brand Kit and be created using Adobe Creative Cloud platforms only. In addition to this graphics must also be sourced from the Auburn University Brand Kit.

Working with the Student Executive Council has given me the opportunity to work with specific brand kits to create reputable designs that adhere to strict codes. I have been able to practice time management, creative criticism, as well as professionalism when working with staff and advisors within the College of Liberal Arts.

Auburn Panhellenic Instagram

As the Director of Social Media on the Auburn Panhellenic Marketing team I was tasked with crafting engaging and competitive posts for our 25,000 followers. Through this role I learned how to work well under pressure and around the clock to create seamless, interactive, and inclusive posts that highlight and represent Auburn Panhellenic’s 18 respective chapters and the 6,900 + members.

During my time as Director of Social Media we implemented new incentives like weekly chapter philanthropy spotlights, chapter president introductions, and monthly scholar highlight posts.

This role equipped me with real life public relations and marketing experiences I am confident will serve me well as I enter the professional field.

Auburn Panhellenic Calender

As the Director of Communications on the Auburn Panhellenic Marketing Team I was tasked with the upkeep of the Auburn Panhellenic Website. One of tasks during my term was creating a calender that adhered to our brand kit. I used Canva to create a templete and switched between color schemes to add variety and make the design enjoyable.

The calender was displayed on the Panhellenic Website for viewing.
